The minority leader in parliament Afenyo Markin has hinted that the minority will not approve the minister-designate for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and the minister-designate for Communication Sam George.
According to Afenyo Markin, the minority had three NDC MPs not to approve but one of them took a humble pie yesterday 29 January 2025.
Afenyo Markin comments as Samuel Nartey George and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa prepare to face the appointment Committee of Parliament.
Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV, Afenyo-Markin detailed, “I took a position that look, let quickly take them through, unless those that are so critical, we were having three that we were going to vote on, one has eaten a humble pie, and there are two more who we are going to vote on, those two, I am the leader of the opposition and I am telling you what we are going to do, I am a politician”.
“We have two, the two, one engaged me extensively and I have to relay his engagement to the external stakeholders of the party. If he agrees to be a true gentleman to know that he acted so badly in terms of his posture, his public conduct and his attack us and he agrees that whatever he did was unbecoming of a decent politician”, he added.
Afenyo Markin further added, “If he is ready to do what he has promised to do we go by consensus, the other one met me he was being dodgy, trying to rationalise we were watching, I am saying that on any day I don’t want to take you through a secret ballot, we believe president Mahama will not appoint NPP MPs as ministers it is your Bonafide, however, we want some decency in our politics”.
