Ibrahim Jazeel Abanga, a Media and Communication graduate of Tamale Technical University and a former SRC Entertainment Secretary, has embarked on a daring solo bicycle journey from Tamale to the Greater Accra Region
to witness the swearing-in of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Leader and President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, scheduled for January 7, 2025.
Abanga began his journey on January 1, 2025, cycling through the principal streets of Tamale and across the Northern Region, heading toward Kumasi and ultimately Accra.
Despite his determination and passion, Abanga disclosed that he made efforts to reach out to the NDC executives in the Northern Region for support but was unable to get through to them.
As a result, Abanga is undertaking this dangerous journey entirely on his own without sponsorship, security, or an ambulance for emergencies.
This has sparked significant concern among residents of the Northern Region, many of whom have described the journey as perilous and urged for better support for such initiatives.
“This journey is not just about witnessing the swearing-in; it is a testament to my dedication to the NDC and the leadership of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
I tried reaching out for support, but I’m doing this all by myself because I believe in the cause,” Abanga stated.
As he approaches the Greater Accra Region, Abanga is hopeful that some motor riders will meet him at the entrance to Accra to escort him safely to the venue for the historic inauguration on January 7, 2025.
His commitment and resilience have made headlines, with many applauding his spirit while raising concerns about his safety.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to draw supporters and dignitaries from across the country, marking a significant moment in Ghana’s democratic journey.
Abanga’s remarkable and risky journey underscores the dedication of grassroots members to the NDC and their vision of unity and progress.
