Musah Superior a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has claimed President John Dramani Mahama gave Sam George a juicy nomination to gag him on the anti-LGBTQ bill.
His comments come as President Mahama in a meeting with the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference hinted at his reluctance to legislate the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
Musah Superior noted that Sam George was the loudest person leading the anti-LGBTQ bill.
According to him, John Mahama is intimidating the person he has appointed as communications minister.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerpa TV Musah Superior detailed, “You know this gay, lesbian thing. You know how Sam George and Mahama were forceful about it and Mahama said he is a Christian and that his faith will not allow him to encourage it. Mahama was the number one person at every NDC rally urging Akufo-Addo to sign it. I also insisted that Akufo-Addo should sign it but it was unfortunate President Akufo-Addo did not sign the bill, I was sad”.
“Today, Mahama is flip-flopping; he says no, no we should have a conversation again. The bill has expired, but you say we should forcefully push it. Now he says it shouldn’t now be passed. Do you know he is intimidating the person he has appointed as communications minister? He says that it is no longer a private members’ bill so the government will own it”, he added.
Musah Superior added, “It doesn’t matter whether it is a private members bill; it should be implemented. He has given the loudest person a juicy appointment so we are waiting in Sam George because he has said that if Mahama does not see through this bill, he will know no peace so I am expecting Sam George to continue. That is why I am saying the credibility of the government is only showing and that is why I believe that they may not be able to deliver”.
