President John Dramani Mahama, has admonished the youth of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against invading and attempting to takeover state owned institutions.
After the NDC won at the December 7 polls, some youth of the NDC stormed various state agencies, seeking to throw out appointees of the outgone New Patriotic Party (NPP) party.
Although the NDC claimed they were not responsible for these attacks, President Mahama has urged the party’s youth to exercise retrain and caution.
“I know that in 2017 that is what the NPP did after we lost that elections. As soon as we handed over, they started to attack gov’t offices, takeover tolling booths, take over public toilets, go to gov’t offices and throw people out. Seize some people on the streets and take cars from them. We must not do the same thing. Let us show Ghana that we are different,” he stated.
President Mahama admitted the party’s youth sacrificed and went to great lengths to ensure the NDC won at the December polls.
“But I know that our regional and constituency executives know those who helped to achieve this victory and what you must be doing is compiling a list of such people and what possibilities there are so we engage their youthful energies when things are settled.”
He advised the party’s youth against taking matters into their own hands, adding, “Let us show the NPP that we are different and win the confidence that Ghanaians reposed on us.”
Constituency and Regional executives of the party we charged to call the party’s youth to order.
“If this continuous we cannot let law and order break down. (If this goes on) we will have to call the security services to come and protect these state intuitions. We don’t want that to happen so let’s bring ourselves to order so that Ghanaians can repose their confidence in us,” he emphasized.
