Sports Journalist Saddick Adams has boldly claimed the Kasoa tollbooth is the largest revenue generator in the country.
Saddick Adams quoted Edward Duncan the General Secretary of Ghana Toll Workers Union who stated, “Kasoa tollbooths generate GHS 100,000 daily revenue mobilization”.
Toll booths have been discontinued on the road of Ghana in November 2021 to make way for the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy).
Meanwhile, Ato Forson Ghana’s Finance minister-designate appearing before the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, January 13, 2025, Dr Forson revealed the NDC is committed to reintroducing the road tolls to generate revenue for road maintenance.
He added, “The NPP submitted a concession agreement to Parliament to reintroduce road tolls, but it was not laid”.
“We are not running away from this promise. We are a party that honours its commitments, and if road tolls are a means to raise revenue, we will implement them, if you use the road, you pay a toll. It is a standard practice worldwide. Ghana will not be the first or last country to adopt this”, Ato Forson stated emphatically.
