Oscar Fosu Larbi, the Member of Parliament for Aowin has refuted the allegation of his involvement in galamsey.
Chiefs and elders of the Aowin constituency have claimed their member of parliament is actively involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
The member of parliament has categorically denied any involvement in galamsey.
According to him, It is a calculated attempt to tarnish his image and he will be vindicated.
Speaking to the media in reaction to the claims, the MP stated, “What they are saying is bluntly not true. It is false. It is a calculated attempt to tarnish my image”.
“The northerners the traditional authorities are claiming I have brought to come and do illegal mining, after this report, I will be vindicated because these groups are party members and they were introduced to this task force of illegal mining by the same traditional authorities”, he added.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has warned Members of Parliament, declaring that any legislator caught engaging in illegal mining must be prepared as a house to bite the bullet.
Speaker Bagbin stated, “Honourable members, galamsey must be confronted head-on. If any of you happen to be involved in galamsey, please advise yourself. You must be prepared as a house to bite the bullet. We must lead and show the way. And please, if I get any information that any of you is involved in galamsey, we will start taking the necessary action from the House.”
