A netizen has asked if the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah is making appointments on the blindside of President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the netizen, sources are saying Julius Debtah is dolling out key government positions to his cronies to solidify his presidential ambition.

The information gathered yesterday also alleged that sources within the corridors of power claim that these appointments are being made discreetly, without the full knowledge of President John Mahama, in what is seen as a grand scheme to “capture” the government.

There are growing suspicions that the yet-to-be-announced list of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) is also being heavily influenced by Debrah.

The sources also suggest that he is deliberately selecting individuals who will remain loyal to him and strengthen his grip on power within the party.

Beyond the MMDCE appointments, several ministerial and CEO appointments made so far have faced widespread criticism from the party’s grassroots, with many alleging that they serve the personal interests of Debrah rather than the broader NDC agenda.

There is speculation that he is deliberately placing allies in strategic positions to cement his influence and create a strong foundation for his anticipated bid for the NDC flagbearership.

The tipping point, according to insiders, is his alleged plan to install a political loyalist with no banking experience at the helm of one of the country’s major state-controlled banks.

The netizen also claimed Julius Debrah is trying to appoint one Ato Sarpong to the Agric Development Bank (ADB).

The netizen wrote on X, “ Is Julius Debrah making appointments on the blind side of JM. Sources saying he’s dolling out key govt positions to his cronies to solid his presidential campaign. Who is Ato Sarpong and why is he getting appointed to ADB”.

Meanwhile, as the rumoured tensions grow within the NDC over these appointments, it remains to be seen how the party leadership and President John Mahama will respond to these unfolding developments.
