Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale Central, Inusah Fuseini, has chastised Alexander Afenyo-Markin (MP) for asking President John Mahama to appoint more than 60 ministers.
Afenyo-Markin asked President John Mahama to apologize to Ghanaians for saying he will run a lean government with just 60 ministers. According to Afenyo-Markin, the task ahead of the President is daunting, and requires more than 60 ministers.
On the floor of Parliament, Afenyo-Markin asked President Mahama to appointment more ministers after his apology to the Ghanaian people.
“When we make mistakes, let’s admit them and apologise. Sixty ministers will not help your political cause,” Afenyo-Markin said.
Inusah Fuseini who would not take lightly Afenyo-Markin’s comments said, “We are not going to accept that. As a member of the NDC, the president cannot violate his own promise to the people. We resist that.”
He recalled that Dr. Bawumia also promised to reduce the number of ministers to ministers to 50 if he was elected president, and asked if the NPP was lying to Ghanaians with that promise.
“Is Afenyo suggesting that Bawumia was not being honest with Ghanaians when he said he would work with 50 ministers? And that if Bawumia had won, he would apologize to Ghanaians and raise the number beyond 50?” Fuseini asked.
The politician highlighted the importance of trust and accountability in governance, stressing that political leaders must honor their commitments to the people.
