The incident occurred on a Wednesday morning when Jeffery, a day student at the school, arrived for class.

Speaking about the incident, Jeffery recounted: “I came to class, and under my table, I saw this purse.

I opened it, saw the money, and immediately gave it to a prefect in my class, asking him to take it to a teacher.”

During the school’s morning assembly, the headmistress, Mrs. Golda Esi Andam, publicly commended Jeffery for his integrity, stating that his actions embodied the core values of the school.

She said, “This is the kind of virtue we want to instill in all of you honesty and a sense of responsibility.

Jeffery had every opportunity to take the money and disappear, but he chose to do the right thing.”

As a gesture of appreciation, headmistress presented each of the students with 20 Ghana cedis from her own pocket and encouraged the rest of the school to emulate their example.

She also took the opportunity to caution students about carelessness with their personal belongings, reminding them that they might not always encounter individuals as trustworthy as the two who returned the purse

When asked why he did not keep the money for himself, Jeffery responded “The money is not mine.

God works in mysterious ways, but I don’t think keeping someone else’s money is how blessings come. It’s better to find the rightful owner.”

Jeffery, who lives with his mother, Aunt Dinah, and attends Ark of Salvation Ministries, shared that his Christian upbringing influenced his decision. “It’s about doing what is right, not what is easy,” he explained.

Swedru Senior High School, located in Agona Swedru in the Central Region of Ghana, was established in 1959 and has built a reputation as one of the country’s most prominent secondary schools.

With a focus on academic excellence and character development, the school has consistently produced students who embody the institution’s core values of discipline and moral uprightness.

This latest display of integrity underscores the positive impact of the school’s efforts to nurture responsible citizens

He returned money of fellow student he found on the floor to school administration. Jeffery finally explains why he acted this way.
