A young man has claimed he hired people to destroy former President Akufo-Addo’s statue in Takoradi.
According to the man he hired the men to destroy the statue for $1000.
He further claimed former President Akufo-Addo gave his hometown free internet but for the people of Takoradi he came to place his statue here.
Speaking in a self-recorded video the man stated, “I contracted people to break the statue, and they have broken it, I promised them $1,000 and the money is ready, this is the money it is ready, I am about to send it to them”.
“How did Akufo-Addo see the people of Takoradi, your hometown you gave them free internet, your village you have them free internet, we the people of Takoradi you have placed your statue here for us to eat or to do what with it”, he added.
The young man further stated, “Ghanaians are happy, do you think people are fools, you and the Akyem Mafias the money you stolen, look at the dust the people of Takoradi are going through all in the name that they are doing a project for us”.
According to reports the Akufo-Addo statue at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi was toppled and broken at about 1:30 am on January 13, 2025.
This was the second time the statue had been destroyed with the first a hole was created at the left leg.
Meanwhile, the statue unveiled some months ago at Effia Nkwanta in the Western Region, was met with immense outrage from the public.
