President-elect John Dramani Mahama has playfully reflected on the overwhelming majority the NDC now holds in Parliament,
“I have so many MPs now, I don’t even know what to do with them!”
He recalled his confidence in the election’s outcome, stating, “I knew we would be victorious.
After casting my vote, the media surrounded me with microphones, asking if I thought we would win. I said, ‘Yes, I believe we’re going to win the election.’
Then they asked about the parliamentary seats, and I projected that we’d secure over 150. But God told me, ‘You’re speaking nonsense. I’ll give you more than 150 seats.’”
With the NDC now enjoying a strong parliamentary majority, Mahama humorously acknowledged the challenge of managing so many MPs. “Now I have so many MPs, I don’t know what to do with them.
Every time I visited a constituency during the campaign, the paramount chiefs would say, ‘We’ll vote for you, but when you win, you must make our son a minister.’
At the time, I said I wouldn’t appoint more than 60 ministers.
But now, with all these MPs, it’s a balancing act. We want to make sure every constituency is represented.”
John Mahama expressed his faith that divine guidance would lead him in making the right decisions for the country, “God will guide us and make things good in His own time.”
