Blay Nyameke Armah the member of parliament for Sekondi has boldly declared that he does not need former President Akufo Addo’s statue in his constituency.
According to the member of parliament, what work has Akufo-Addo done for the people of the Western region to deserve a statue?
Speaking to Oyerepa TV, he stated, “What has Akufo-Addo done for the people of the Western region that he deserves that, what work did he do, what work is he saying he has done, the things they are building they are not done, what of those who completed projects”.
“The statue our communication directors will relocate the statue to his hometown, we will not destroy it, we will relocate it, we will get the power from our president to relocate the statue to Kyebi then we will place Kwame Nkrumah’s statue there”, he added.
He further added, “That is a hospital is a monumental hospital, a better statue that should be there is a nurse, a patient, or a doctor and a child something indicating this is a monumental project”.
Meanwhile, the statue unveiled some months ago at Effia Nkwanta in the Western Region, was met with immense outrage from the public.
The former Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah explained that the statue honors the president’s initiatives in the region, the rehabilitation of Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, the construction of a 3-tier Sinohydro interchange, and the redevelopment of the Takoradi Market Circle.
