Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, has raised serious concerns over the lack of medical preparedness following the collapse of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s aide-de-camp (ADC), Colonel Isaac Amponsah, during the State of the Nation Address on January 3, 2025.
Sam George took to his X account to question the readiness of medical protocols for such emergencies.
“What medical protocols are in place for the President, Nana Akufo-Addo? I am deeply concerned that no arrangements were in place for the medical emergency that befell the Prez’s ADC. Simply no preparedness! Shocking to witness.
I wish the ADC a speedy recovery,” Sam George posted.
The incident occurred shortly after President Akufo-Addo began his speech in Parliament.
Col. Amponsah, who has served as the President’s security aide for many years, suddenly collapsed while standing guard.
The collapse prompted immediate attention from Parliament’s medical team, and Col. Amponsah was promptly assisted and transported to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation.
Despite the brief interruption, the President paused his address to ensure Col. Amponsah received necessary care.
The speech, which marked the President’s final State of the Nation Address, resumed shortly after.
What medical protocols are in place for the President, @NAkufoAddo? I am deeply concerned that no arrangements were in place for the medical emergency that befell the Prez’s ADC. Simply no preparedness! Shocking to witness. I wish the ADC a speedy recovery. 🦁🇬🇭#SONA25
