Bridget Otoo further indicated that the NDC grassroots has been wrongly fed the wrong information.

She wrote on X, “ I can’t believe they will do this. He’s one of the best appointed so far … Grassroots being fed wrong information again”.

Mr Sarpong was appointed on 21 January by President John Dramani Mahama to oversee the nation’s tax collection and revenue mobilisation efforts.

His appointment has been met with a lot of disapproval from NDC supporters.

According to the NDC youths, Anthony Sarpong is allegedly affiliated with the opposition New Patriotic Party.

Mr Sarpong is a well-known accountant and auditor and his appointment was targeted at strengthening Ghana’s revenue systems.

The irate youths have called on President Mahama to reconsider and revoke Anthony Sarpong’s appointment.

A group named NDC Loyalists Against Injustice has also vehemently opposed the appointment of Anthony K. Sarpong as Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

According to them, the GRA boss is affiliated to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and may serve the interest of the NPP rather than support the government achieve its mandate.

Meanwhile, there has been no response from the office of the presidency regarding the ongoing protest against the appointment of Anthony Sarpong.
