Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu (MP), has chastised the CEO of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle for “insulting” Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh.
He described the actions of Emeafa Hardcastle as one that must not be condoned, charging, “This house must stand united in condemning the conduct and in demanding an apology and retraction of it.”
“To Honourable Members, we do not, and we should not, accept such conduct and insults. Today, it is him; tomorrow, it maybe you. That is why we must stand united in condemning it.”
Haruna Iddrisu charged Emeafa to offer a public apology to Frank Annoh-Dompreh on the matter.
He however pleaded with Annoh-Dompreh not to pursue the agenda of dragging her before the Privileges Committee.
Leveraging on the opportunity presented, he highlighted that parliament is clothed with both penal and disciplinary powers vested in it by virtue of article 122 of thr 1992 constitution, and advised the public to be mindful of utterances made against the house and its members.
A full blown out confrontation between the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission, Emeafa Hardcastle and Member of Parliament (MP)
for Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency rocked parliament on January 28, 2025.
The altercation resulted in Annoh-Dompreh being described as a silly child by, Emeafa Hardcastle.
Annoh-Dompreh who was not pleased by her actions has requested the Speaker of Parliament to haul her before the Privileges Committee to answer for her actions.
