“Happy to see some strong personalities entrusted with the process” – Vormawor reacts to Constitutional Review

The lead Convener of the FixTheCountry and Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor has revealed his happiness to see some strong personalities and friends entrusted with the Constitutional Review committee.

According to Oliver Vormawor, a purposeful reform of our constitutional architecture is a generational responsibility.

He further expressed his excitement about John Mahama setting up the Constitutional Review Committee early on in his term.

Vormawor in an X post wrote, “Purposeful reform of our constitutional architecture is a generational responsibility. I am glad that JDM is getting the move on this, this early on in his term. Particularly happy to see some strong personalities & friends entrusted with the process. We must all support this initiative to succeed and succeed well! For tomorrow’s sake”.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Review Committee has been tasked to see through the implementation of the Constitutional Review Process.

This is in fulfilment of his campaign promise to see through the implementation of the Constitutional Review Process.

The team include the following members, Prof. H Kwasi Prempeh – Chairman, Justice Sophia Adinyirah – Member, Prof. Kwame Karikari – Member, Mrs Charlotte Osei – Member, Dr. Godwin Djokoto – Member, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu – Member, Dr.Esi Ansah – Member, and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya – Secretary.

According to the Presidency statement, the Committee is expected to identify and address the gaps in, and the challenges with the implementation of, previous constitutional review work done by the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee, engage key stakeholders to solicit their views on the proposals for amendment of the 1992 Constitution and make actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing democratic governance in the country.

The Committee is expected to present its recommendations for constitutional amendments within five (5) months for consideration by the Government.
