The Government has officially dropped all criminal charges levelled against Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the former National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress and communication officer of the party, Anthony Kwaku Boahen.
The case which begun in December 2019 has now beem closed by Attorney General, Dr. Domnic Ayine.
Ofosu Ampofo and Kwaku Boahen were on trial at Accra High Court in connection with the leaked audio tape where Ofosu Ampofo was heard allegedly conspiring crimes to cause instability in the country, and blame the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for causing them.
The conspiracy include kidnapping, arson, verbal assault against prominent people including chairman of the National Peace Council, Prof. Emmanuel Asante and chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa.
When they were charged with conspiracy to assault public officers, they pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The case have however been dismissed by the Government.
Ofosu Ampofo currently serves as a political policy adviser to Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman.
