Some furious youth members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have issued a strong warning to the Bui Power Authority (BPA) administration, demanding that they vacate their offices immediately.
According to the group, “No one, not even President Mahama, can stop us on our next visit.”
This morning the youth stormed the premises of Bui Power Authority (BPA) administration and ask the receptionist and workers to pack their stuff and leave the building.
One of the supporters, speaking on behalf of the group, expressed their grievances:
“They set money among themselves, appointing themselves as directors who misuse the funds. They travel unnecessarily.
About two, three weeks ago, we saw people getting promoted and jobs being given to others. Why do we need this? We need to employ people to make sure our country is better.”
He continued, “We cannot allow people who don’t care about the development of our country to remain in these positions. The situation is getting worse.
From management to security staff, everyone must pack their bags and leave because our government is now in power.”
The group also highlighted their dissatisfaction with the state of the country under the BPA’s management:
“For the past eight years, we have seen no progress. Instead, we’ve seen more deterioration.
We are fed up, and we are here to say enough is enough.
All management must leave because they can’t manage. They sit in air-conditioned offices while we suffer outside.”
Their demands include an immediate restructuring of the authority, warning, “If this does not happen, we will take action.
Not even Mahama can stop us because this country belongs to all of us.
If some people are employed and can make a living, we also deserve the same opportunity. We have families, and we want a better country.”
The Bui Power Authority (BPA) was established in 2007 under the Bui Power Authority Act, 2007 (Act 740).
It oversees the management of the Bui Hydroelectric Project, located on the Black Volta River. Operational since 2013, the 400-megawatt dam is Ghana’s third-largest hydroelectric facility.
Beyond power generation, BPA also promotes irrigation for agriculture and renewable energy initiatives, such as the recently launched 50-megawatt solar power plant near the dam.
