Rumors and speculation have intensified as the event draws near. However, the details surrounding the outfit remain closely guarded. Despite numerous inquiries, official sources have refrained from disclosing any specific information. The anticipation continues to build as the public eagerly awaits the unveiling of Mahama’s outfit on the day of his inauguration. The outfit worn by President John Dramani Mahama during his inauguration was not just any outfit but one which sent a clear message to the Ghanaian people.
Although many people fell in love with the outfit, some do not clearly understand what it represents.
Below is a breakdown of the symbols found in the center of the outfit and the meaning of the Kente cloth used to design it.
Nyame Dua (Tree of God): This is an Adinkra Sign which symbolizes God’s protection and unending presence in our lives.
Sankofa (To go back): this sign is popular in the Ghanaian adage which says it is not wrong to go back for something of old or from the past. This goes to speak of John Mahama’s appreciation to Ghanaians who voted him back to power as president after he was voted out in the 2016 elections.
Gye Nyame (Only God): this symbol is about the supremacy and omnipotence of God. It goes to say one can only do all things through God. It goes to say President John Mahama gives his appreciation to God for making it possible for him to lead Ghana as its president once more.
Dwennimmen (Humility and Strength): this is a symbol of strength and humility. It goes to say that president Mahama is ready to serve the Ghanaian people with his strength and in all humility.
3mmer3 Pa Da W’anim: this is the name of the Kente cloth used to stylishly design his white outfit. The term loosely translates to better days ahead. It is president Mahama’s message to the Ghanaian people that the NDC will do all it can to improve the lives of the citizenry.
