A recent post on X by Dr. Sneaker Nyame has clarified growing public curiosity surrounding President John Dramani Mahama’s Toyota Land Cruiser LC300, which was spotted at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) during his Thanksgiving celebration.
Dr. Nyame noted that the vehicle in question is not a new purchase but has been in President Mahama’s possession since 2024, prior to the elections.
This clarification comes amidst speculations about the cost and source of the high-end vehicle, particularly its rumored price tag of $600,000 approximately GHC 8 million.
The Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 Xtreme Edition is an armored vehicle designed for enhanced security and performance. It features advanced terrain control systems, a powerful 3.3L V6 Turbo Diesel Engine, and bulletproof capabilities.
According to sources, the actual cost of the vehicle ranges between $150,000 and $160,000, significantly lower than the speculated $600,000.
The appearance of the vehicle has sparked a mix of reactions. While some have raised questions about its affordability and acquisition, others close to President Mahama have maintained that the vehicle is his personal property, acquired without any involvement of state funds.
This is not the first time President Mahama has been linked to high-end vehicles. During his previous administration, the government purchased 34 luxury cars, including 10 bulletproof vehicles, which were handed over to the succeeding administration in 2017.
