Special Aide to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari,has expressed excitement and confidence in the new administration as the country prepares for today’s swearing-in of President-elect John Dramani Mahama and Vice President-elect Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
Speaking to Citi FM on the grounds of the Independence Square, she shared her thoughts on Mahama’s first set of appointments and her unwavering commitment to serving him, even if not in a formal capacity.
“Expectations are very high, and I am confident they will be met. I have no doubt in my mind,” Bawah Mogtari said.
She praised the initial appointees to the Office of the President, describing them as a team of capable and experienced leaders.
The President-elect’s choices include former Attorney General and legal advisor, Julius Debrah as Chief of Staff, Dr. Callistus Mahama – Executive Secretary to the President ,Prosper Douglas Bani –
Head of Interim Security Taskforce,
Dr. Valerie Sawyerr – Senior Presidential Advisor, Governmental Affairs,Augustus Goosie Tannoh – Presidential Advisor Responsible for 24-hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development
,Marietta Agyeiwaa Brew – Legal Counsel to the President of Ghana ,Felix Kwakye Ofosu – Ag. Spokesperson to the President Reflecting on the selections, she said, “I think this is one of the greatest decisions ever.
It’s a fantastic team, and I have no doubt they will do very, very well.”
“The beauty of the NDC is that there’s so much talent a large pool of capable people.
I’ve been a special aide and spokesperson for nearly a decade. It’s time for others to also take the lead,”.
She also highlighted Felix Ofosu Kwakye’s readiness, citing his years of experience as her deputy and as Deputy Minister of Communications.
“Felix is a fantastic choice. He’s been a strong supporter and spokesperson for the transition team. I am filled with pride to see him and others stepping into these roles.”
“Even if I didn’t take up any formal position, I’d still be serving John Mahama. It’s an honor and privilege to support him and the NDC’s vision for Ghana.”
Speaking from the inauguration grounds, she described the atmosphere as electric and filled with optimism.
“The energy here is amazing. It’s a moment of hope and renewal for Ghana. This is the beginning of a new chapter, and I’m proud to be part of it in any capacity,” she said.
