Unconfirmed reports on social media indicate Dr Randy Abbey has been named as the CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
The renowned host is currently trending on social media platform X, with news of his appointment as CEO of the GNPC going viral.
The popular television host Randy Abbey officially stepped down from his role as the Managing Director of Ignite Media Group (IMG), the parent company of Metro TV, Original TV, and Original FM, on December 31, 2024.
He is renowned as the host of the widely-watched Good Morning Ghana show on Metro TV, and is also resigning from his position on the board of Ignite Media Group.
Coincidentally Ato Ahwoi who was also the former Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) the rumoured appointment of Dr. Abbey, believes the former host of Good Morning Ghana will play a key role in government if given an appointment.
Ato Ahwoi a founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) called on President John Dramani Mahama to appoint sports administrator and media personality, Dr. Randy Abbey, as part of his ministers.
According to him, the experience Dr Randy Abbey has gathered experience both in sports and in the media as the host of Good Morning Ghana would enable him to flourish if given the nod as a minister.
Meanwhile, Dr Randy Abbey’s name has also been linked to the list of Ghana’s incoming sports minister alongside Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Herbert Mensah, and Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye.
