Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana has quizzed what the minority in parliament did when Sam George was slapped by vigilante forces that are pro-NPP.
It will be recalled the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Sam George was slapped during the Ayawaso by-election.
According to Edem Agbana, protecting the image and dignity of parliament must be applicable to all.
He asserted that what is wrong is wrong and MPs must call a spade a spade and not pick and choose when they feel that it favours them.
Edem Agbana’s comments follow a clash between Ms. Hardcastle and Frank Annoh-Dompreh, during a sitting of the Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 28.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, the member of parliament Edem Agbana stated, “I agree that the institution of parliament must be respected, and the dignity of parliament must be protected at all times, but my problem with the minority statements, if all of us agree that let protect the image, let protect the dignity of parliament that role must be applicable to all.
What did the minority do when the Hon Sam George a member of parliament was slapped by vigilante forces that are pro-NPP, what I am saying is that what is wrong is wrong and we must call a spade a spade let us not be doing this pick and choose were when we feel that it favours us then we raise the argument about protecting the dignity of parliament”, he stated.
Edem Agbana further detailed that NPP communicators and the Chairman on several occasions have been insulting NDC MPs.
“Again, the regional Chairman of the NPP in the Ashanti Region I have several videos and audios of Wontumi describing members of parliament on the NDC side with words that I can repeat on your platform, we should collectively say we are protecting the dignity of parliament so if Wontumi does it and it is wrong and if Emeafa does it is wrong whoever is found culpable we should all come together and condemn it.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, according to reports is set to hold a closed-door meeting with Victoria Emeafa Hardcastle, today January 30, 2025.
