Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has commended Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, for his exceptional service to Ghana with him in office.
Speaking on Friday, January 24, during the vetting of the Interior Minister-designate, Mohammed Muntaka, Afenyo-Markin praised Dr. Dampare’s exceptional leadership, highlighting his significant contributions to law enforcement and national security as deserving of recognition and celebration, disregarding criticisms against him.
“The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, many may have their views about him, but I am one person who respect him and admire him and believe that if we had his type consistently manning our police service, Ghana would be a better place.” he said.
He acknowledged that while there may be differing opinions about Dr. Dampare’s leadership style, his accomplishments far outweigh any criticisms.
“There may be some disagreements about his style, but I, personally believe that what he has done for the nation in terms of security is one that we must all celebrate,” he added.
The Minority Leader also praised Dr. Dampare for his youthful energy and proactive approach to policing.
He expressed confidence that retaining Dr. Dampare in his role would contribute significantly to strengthening the police service and promoting national stability.
Afenyo-Markin reiterated the importance of celebrating individuals who dedicate themselves to national service.
He urged Ghanaians and policymakers to look beyond personal differences and recognise the impact of Dr. Dampare’s leadership.
