Be rest assured gov’t taking looming dumsor crisis seriously – Special Aide to Mahama

The Special Aide to the President Mahama Felix Kwakye Ofosu has revealed Ghanaian should be rest assured that the government is taking the looming dumsor crisis seriously.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the government has been briefed and the situation is urgent.

He further revealed in order to address the situation, a technical committee has been set up led by John Jinapor a Chairman of the Committee.

The Special Aide to the President Felix Kwakye Ofosu, speaking to the media stated, “Government has been briefed. It’s pretty urgent. In order to address the situation, a technical committee has been set up with representatives from all the key players in the management of Ghana’s energy sector”.

“They have up until the close of day today to put before the government the roadmap on what exactly needs to be done and how it can be done. So, you can be rest assured that government is taking the matter seriously and will do what has to be done in order to avert any difficulty for the people of Ghana”, he revealed.

Meanwhile, the John Mahama government will require a total of $89.90 million to procure liquid fuel in the absence of natural gas according to GRIDCo report to avert the looming power crisis.

It has been revealed that the West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAPco), which supplies natural gas to Ghana, plans to undergo major maintenance work, known as pigging and will be unable to supply gas to Ghana for nearly one month.

Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) in a statement issued revealed maintenance of the gas pipelines from Nigeria to Ghana by WAGP was initially set to take place in October 2024 but the Akufo-Addo government postponed the maintenance to January 2025.
