Media personality and entrepreneur Serwaa Amihere has spoken out for the first time following the release of an intimate video of her that went viral on social media.
The video, which showed Serwaa in bed with a man later identified as Henry Fitz, sparked online speculation and controversy.
Some suggested that the video was filmed in 2019, long before Henry Fitz’s marriage, while others claimed that Serwaa attended his wedding as a guest and later had an affair with him, leading to public backlash.
In response to the incident, Serwaa shared her thoughts and advice with young people, especially women, about the importance of being cautious in their decisions.
Reflecting on her own experience, she spoke of the emotional toll the situation took on her, including battling depression.
She also expressed gratitude for the support she received from close friends like Auntie Bobia, who helped her during that difficult period, offering comfort and even taking her for ice cream when she was at her lowest.
“I went through an extremely difficult year last year. I am not old, but I am older than many of you here. I want to repeat, be extremely careful about the decisions you make today, because years later, they will come back and bite you really hard in the face. And that’s exactly what happened to me last year.”
In an emotional statement shared on her X account on April 24, 2024, Serwaa apologized for the embarrassment caused to her family, employers, and the brands she represents.
She confirmed that the video was recorded five years ago and admitted that at the time, she had underestimated her influence and the potential consequences of her actions.
“I considerably underestimated the extent of my influence, my potential, what I would become, and what I would come to represent to this society.”
Serwaa further revealed that the video was leaked after months of threats and extortion attempts, stating, “The video finally went out after five months of threats and extortion, along with efforts by the police to bring the extortionists to book.”
Ghanaian media personality and entrepreneur Serwaa Amihere has advised the youth, particularly young women, to be extremely careful and selective about the decisions they make at a young age, as their choices could have long-term repercussions.
