Former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah says former Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan is the best player out of the lot he has ever managed.
Kwasi Appiah, who is now the head coach of the Sudanese national team, made this pick with his current team and the rich crop of Black Star players he managed in mind.
He made this revelation during a question and answer section with 3Sports
Kwesi Appiah managed Asamoah Gyan during his time in the Black Stars and made him the captain in 2013 ahead of players like Michael Essien and Sulley Ali Muntari.
Asked to choose the best amongst the group of players he managed, Kwesi Appiah mentioned Asamoah Gyan’s name without thinking twice about the question.
He also named the Baba Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi as his favorite sporting facility in the country.
Kwesi Appiah had two different stints with the Black Stars, first from 2012 to 2014 and the second from 2017 to 2020.
It was under Akwasi Appiah’s tenure as Black Stars coach that Asamoah Gyan became Ghana’s all time top scorer when he score twice in a 3-1 win over Sudan in 2013.
