Joseph Osei-Owusu, a former first Deputy Speaker of Parliament has admitted the Chief of Staff brings money to the members of the Appointment Committee.
According to Joseph Osei-Owusu, the Chief of Staff, most of the time at the close of their work bring money to the members to facilitate their work.
The former member of parliament further insisted that he wondered how anyone would link that to bribery because it does not give an advantage to anybody or a disadvantage to anybody.
Speaking on JOY NEWS, Joe Osei-Owusu detailed, “ When I joined the appointment committee most of the time at the close of our work, the Chief of Staff would bring money to the members of the committee it was like facilitating our work.
I wonder how anybody could link that to bribery, after the work, how can it be because clearly, it does not give an advantage to anybody or disadvantage to anybody”, he added.
The issues about bribery levelled against the Appointment Committee have resurfaced after following Oliver Vormawor’s claims the Appointments Committee has been demanding money from ministering appointed vetted before their approval in parliament which he has since apologised for.
Meanwhile, Manasseh Azure Awuni an award-winning investigative journalist has revealed that nothing in parliament moved without money changing hands, he also revealed that Joseph Osei-Owusu and the former NDC’s Minority Chief Whip, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka told him the Appointments Committee routinely received cash from the Office of the President during the vetting of ministerial nominees.
