Four (4) members of Parliament have been suspended over their involvement in the scuffle that happened in Parliament on the night of Thursday, January 30, 2025.
Majority and Minority Chief Whips, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor and Frank Annoh-Dompreh have been suspended together with Alhassan Tampuli and Jerry Ahmed Shaib were suspended by Speaker Alban Bagbin.
This opens up four (4) vacancies on the Appointments Committee.
Speaker Alban Bagbin has set up a 7-Member Committee to be headed by Ho West MP, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah and given them ten (10) days to investigate the matter.
The Clerk of Parliament has also been directed to file a criminal report with the Ghana Police Service for possible prosecution.
Also, a full assessment of the damage caused during the scuffle will be carried out and person’s responsible surcharged.
The vetting of presidential nominations on Thursday ended very chaotic as some MPs were captured on tape destroying microphones and tables.
