Leader and Founder of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has donated Ghc100,000 to victims of the Kantamanto fire disaster.
His visit marks one of the many which has happened over the past few days to commiserate with traders who lost wares running into millions of Ghana cedis and aid them bounce back to their feet.
Mr. Kyerematen, accompanied by party executives, was guided by market leaders to assess the extent of the damage and the losses incurred by traders due to the incident.
Addressing the victims, he noted that recurring market fires have been a long-standing concern for him. The latest incident, he explained, compelled him to personally visit and extend his support, recognizing the financial toll it has taken on many traders.
He emphasized the collective responsibility of Ghanaians to assist the victims in every way possible to recover from the effects of the incident. “I always say that if something bad happens to our markets, something bad has happened to all Ghanaians. It is therefore up to us to work together to rebuild and rebrand this marketplace.”
“I am here today with members of my party to extend my condolences and show support in the way I can to ease the burdens you carry due to this unfortunate incident.” he added
Mr. Kyerematen presented GH¢100,000 to the executives of the Kantamanto Market to aid in recovery efforts for the affected traders.
He remarked: “Upon hearing this bad news, I also want to help in the way that I can by bringing you GH¢100,000. As we have started a new year, there are many things you as traders may have to take care of, so we hope this will reduce the burden.”
