Dr Ayew Afriyie, the Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore has boldly stated former President Akufo-Addo’s arrogance caused the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
According to Dr Ayew Afriyie, Akufo-Addo was going around ordering Chiefs to stand up and greet him which the Ghanaian people did not like.
He also asserted that Akufo-Addo went to Kwabre East and said if they did not vote for him, it was their case.
Speaking on Oyerapa TV, Dr Ayew Afriyie revealed, “The perceived position, you are concluding that we are arrogant, you sitting there can be said to be arrogant, when they say something you don’t listen, it is a perception”.
“It is a perception industry we are in, in this politics who say people vote purely on fact, it is about perception, so if you know you are going to do a perception industry work be humble”, he added.
Dr Ayew Afriyie further detailed, “You go to the elections and the president tells you, Kwabre East if you will not vote for me, it is your own case, if you the leader or the President say this how do you want the people to feel?”
“It is a character expose, and therefore the NDC can use it, and they use it, don’t play devil advocacy here, what the president did was unacceptable, and if you also look at election year and you go around telling Chiefs to stand up, the Ghanaian people don’t like this”, he boldly stated emphatically.
