General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has strongly criticized the Akufo-Addo administration, describing it as the worst in Ghana’s history.
Speaking passionately, he expressed deep disappointment not only with the economic challenges of the past eight years but also with what he characterized as the arrogance and moral decline of the government.
“For me, it’s not even just about the economy. It’s about the depravity, the degeneration, and the immorality of the leadership. This government has brought the country to its lowest possible level of governance,” Kwetey said.
He accused the Akufo-Addo administration of being selfish, greedy, and deceptive, adding, “The arrogance and insensitivity are appalling.
It’s as if they think the people of Ghana are not intelligent, and they continue to deceive and gaslight them.
Those are the things that hurt me the most.”
Drawing comparisons with past governments, Kwetey acknowledged that no administration is perfect but insisted that the level of governance under Akufo-Addo has been disastrous.
“We’ve seen Kufuor’s government. I wouldn’t say it was the best, but compared to the last eight years, it’s a disaster.
This government is completely forgettable and should serve as a benchmark for how low not to sink in the future,” he remarked.
Kwetey admitted that governance is no easy task and does not expect an effortless process even if the NDC returns to power.
However, he emphasized the need for leadership rooted in humility, truth, and selflessness.
“A leader must have the capacity to be humble, to tell the truth, and to show selflessness. We’ve not seen much of that over the past eight years,”.
