Outgoing Member of Parliament (MP), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye says President Akufo-Addo will be leaving office with no legacy to his name.
According to him, Akufo-Addo is a master of self-praise rather than delivering results and being touted for them.
“The President was consistent in one thing: praising himself when he didn’t deserve praise and also presenting figures and scenarios that were not factual,” he said in an interview.
In the arena of sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye indicated that president Akufo-Addo did little to nothing to improve the nation’s sports sector, leading to a record failure and disappointment to Ghanaians.
“On the issue of sports, for example, a president who always wants to be seen as a person who is perfect and has performed excellently. In the area of sports where he has performed so poorly, how would you want him to talk about it? This is because he accepts the fact that sports is one area where he has performed so poorly.”
“Youth development is also one area the government has performed so poorly. This is because in spite of all the so-called interventions; NABCO, planting for food and jobs, all indicators show that the president failed in those areas,” he stated.
His remarks follow the Akufo-Addo’s last State of the Nation Address.
In his presentation, Akufo-Addo stated that serving as the President of Ghana has been the greatest honour of his life, describing it as one marked by significant challenges and triumphs.
He acknowledged that his time in office had demanded his full energy, commitment, and love for the country.
