Marathon singer Afua Asantewaa paid a courtesy call on Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace to seek his prayers and blessings in her bid to secure the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
The visit came after the completion of her second attempt at the record, held at Heroes’ Park in the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Asantewaa was among those who called on the Asantehene during the first Awukudae celebration of the year on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
During the courtesy call, the Asantehene commended the singer for her bravery and determination, which he described as a remarkable effort to place Ghana on the global stage through music.
Asantewaa was accompanied to the Manhyia Palace by an entourage, including Kwame Adinkra, Kofi Owusu Aduonum, Gladys Owiredu, Isaac Amponsah, and Asare Daniel.
Her second Guinness World Record attempt took place from December 21 to 26 at the Heroes’ Park annex of the Baba Yara Stadium, situated in the heart of the Ashanti Region.
The event garnered local and international attention as Asantewaa pushed the limits of endurance in her musical performance.
