A senior member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, has criticized calls for the current government to “manage” the ongoing power crisis, commonly known as ‘dumsor’.
He argues that such advice is unnecessary, given the government’s prior experience in handling similar energy challenges.
Jantuah emphasized that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has previously managed ‘dumsor’ during its earlier tenure.
He stated, “They have been there before. They’ve seen ‘dumsor’ before. They have managed ‘dumsor’ before.”
He further noted that some of the power plants introduced by the NDC were later relocated to Kumasi by the succeeding administration, enhancing energy distribution in that region.
Jantuah believes that, given their past experience, the current government should be capable of addressing the present energy crisis without external prompts.
In related developments, President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to resolving Ghana’s energy challenges.
Speaking at the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, President Mahama assured citizens that his government is dedicated to ensuring a stable and uninterrupted power supply.
The President acknowledged the logistical delays posing a risk of power outages but urged Ghanaians to remain hopeful, stating, “We will make sure that your lights stay on and that we do not have ‘dumsor’.”
