8 dead, as Small-scale miners and the military clash

A violent clash between Small-scale miners and military lead has led to 8 persons reportedly dead.

The military personnel were said to be guarding the AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine.

The information gathered reveals four vehicles have also been burnt following the clash.

In a 40-second video shared by JOY NEWS, vehicles could be seen burning.

Reports suggest the incident happened last night on January 18, which has heightened tensions.

It remains unclear what ignited the clash between the small-scale miners and the military.

Gunshots were reportedly fired during the confrontation leading to fatalities and injuries.

Reports claims that about 10 miners lost their lives, with several others injured in the incident.
