A 26-year-old farmer from Yabram, Yaw Nimoah, a suburb of Dambai in the Oti Region, has allegedly killed his 60-year-old mother, Madam Serwa Ama Salomey, by striking her with a pestle, resulting in her instant death.
According to Philip Kwadwo Bidaba, the Assemblyman for Kwame-Akura East Electoral Area, the suspect had previously threatened his mother with a cutlass on multiple occasions.
Mr. Bidaba told the media that Yaw Nimoah has a known history of mental health challenges, which may have influenced his actions.
Yaw Nimoah had reportedly been taken to a prayer camp for spiritual intervention several times due to his condition.
After showing signs of improvement, he was discharged and allowed to return to live with his mother at Yabram.
Unfortunately, this is where the tragic incident occurred.
