An orange farmer has bemoaned the level of greed and sheer wickedness of orange traders in Ghana.
The orange farmer in a video shared on X was heard saying, “In this world our fellow humans are the devils. Look, my oranges are ripe now but I won’t harvest them. When I go to Kumasi I buy a single orange for Ghc1 and when I travel to Accra, I buy one for Ghc2.”
With this said, he went on to narrate how an orange trader disrespected his hard work.
The orange farmer was ready to sell his ripe oranges until he was approached by an orange trader. “When the people came to buy my oranges, they wanted me to sell them at 8 oranges for Ghc1. They want to buy 8 oranges from me for Ghc1 and then go sell them in Kumasi at Ghc1 for 1. I refused to sell the orange to them and told them to take their car and leave.”
The infuriated farmer stated that he would rather leave his oranges to rot in the farm than sell them to the wicked trader for such an outrageous amount.
He reiterated the fact that humans are just wicked as he was overwhelmed with surprise and anger at the orange trader for seeking to buy his oranges at Ghc1 for 8 oranges.
“If I had not gone to Kumasi I wouldn’t have known an orange was sold for Ghc1. That’s so cruel. The oranges can rot for all I care.”
The farmer further blamed the government for the current situation of orange farmers.
He believes if the government had put in place sound polices to support farmers, they would not be cheated off their hard work.
“By now a government car will be here to cart the ripe orange but that is not the case, but the person with the money wants to come and cheat me.”
The farmer vowed to use his land for galamsey activities if the menace reaches his community.
