An elderly woman from the Ashanti region has shared her perspective on why the region has remained firmly loyal to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has consistently distanced itself from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a video recently posted on X, she explained that the Ashanti people’s allegiance to the NPP is rooted in painful memories from the time of Jerry John Rawlings’ presidency.
She recalled the torture and intimidation endured by the people of Ashanti during Rawlings’ rule, describing how the harsh treatment left deep scars that have fueled lasting mistrust and resentment toward the NDC.
