TV3 Journalist Godwin Asediba has revealed that he received multiple threats covering the recount of four constituencies in the Eastern region.
According to Godwin Asediba he received multiple threats while on live TV during the collation process at the Tesano Police Depot in Accra yesterday 12 December 2024.
The Ghana Police Service directed the four outstanding constituency collations in the Eastern Region to be relocated to the National Police Training School at Tesano, Accra.
The direction came as tensions mounted high during the collation in these constituencies.
The police in a statement said the directive is to enhance security in the region.
Godwin Asediba wrote on X, “Covering the recounting of results from four constituencies in the eastern region at the Tesano Police Depot in Accra last night was extremely tense. While live on TV, I received multiple threats”.
“This, coupled with the harassment and attacks I endured earlier during the elections, has been an eye-opener. I strongly believe the GJA still has a lot of work to do to protect journalists. People feel free to do anything they want to a journalist without fear of consequences because they know they will go scot-free in the end”, his statement on X added.
