The Wenchi Police Commander has been beaten to a pulp, with 8 inmates released from custody.
According to reports, some unidentified youth in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region attacked DSP Nana Boakye Yiadom, leaving him severely injured.
The information gathered suggests the incident occurred on Tuesday morning after DSP Yiadom went to the Tohaba area to arrest a suspect. With the suspect not available the commander detained the suspect’s pregnant wife and brought her to the police station.
The unidentified Wenchi youth angered by the Police commander’s arrest of the pregnant woman stormed the station to free her.
The youths vandalized the commander’s vehicle, the charge office, and other items, including a flat-screen TV, fridge, computer equipment, and sliding doors.
They also broke into the police cells and released eight inmates.
Meanwhile, the Police Commander DSP Yiadom is receiving treatment at the Bono Regional Teaching Hospital.
