The Director of Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ablekuma North, Daniel Yaw Tornyigah, has vowed to take legal action against the Electoral Commission (EC) over any attempt to overturn the earlier declaration of Ewura Abena Aubyn as the MP-elect for the constituency.
Speaking at a press briefing, Tornyigah described the EC’s alleged intentions as a direct assault on democracy and the will of the people.
“The residents of Ablekuma North have spoken through the ballot, and any attempt to reverse this legitimate outcome will be met with fierce resistance, both legally and politically,” he declared.
Ewura Abena Aubyn was declared the MP-elect following a closely contested parliamentary race. However, recent reports suggest that the EC may be considering a review of the results amid claims of irregularities.
Tornyigah accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of pressuring the EC to overturn the results, a move he said undermines the integrity of the electoral process.
“We will not sit idly by while the democratic rights of the people are trampled upon.
