The Ashanti Regional Directorate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared that it will not accept any easily washable indelible ink during the upcoming general election in the region.
At a press conference in Kumasi today, the Regional Communication Officer, Lawyer Abass Nurudeen, voiced concerns over the use of non-permanent indelible ink in the recent special voting exercise.
He pointed out that issues arose when the regional Electoral Commission (EC) Director promised to replace such ink for the general election scheduled for December 7, 2024.
Lawyer Abass emphasized that the use of easily removable ink poses a risk of “multiple voting and impersonation” and warned that the NDC would not tolerate its use.
He also called on the EC Director to honor his commitment, urging the Commission to avoid any delays in delivering electoral materials to NDC strongholds.
He specifically referenced problems that occurred during the special voting in the Offinso North Constituency.
Lawyer Abass further urged NDC polling agents to remain vigilant and protect the party’s votes to secure a decisive victory.
