The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised alarm over the safety of electoral officers ahead of a planned rerun at the Abokobi Women’s Development Centre in the Dome Kwabenya constituency.
Anthony Nukpenu, the Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the NDC, criticized the Electoral Commission’s (EC) directive for the rerun, emphasizing the party’s rejection of the decision. Speaking to Metro TV, Mr. Nukpenu warned, “For us, we have not taken any decision,
but if they should go ahead, I can’t guarantee the safety of the electoral officers who will be deployed.”
He also highlighted the community’s opposition, stating residents believe they already cast their votes on December 7, overwhelmingly endorsing Elikplim Akurugu.
“The result stands. Should any official dare come with a ballot box or ballot papers to determine another verdict, they are not going to participate, and they can’t guarantee the safety of those who will conduct that exercise,” he cautioned.
