A viral video has surfaced of some Kejetia market women jubilating upon receiving fake news of a second round in the 2024 elections.
In the viral video, some market women were captured jubilating, hoping for a second round despite their favorite candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia conceding defeat earlier.
According to reports, there was news circulating in parts of Kumasi yesterday before the EC declared the final election results.
The fake news suggests that the election results between the two dominant political parties were tied and that there would be a second round.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has officially declared John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the President-elect in the 2024 general election.
The EC’s certified results, Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast. His closest contender, Dr. Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61%.
