Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been explaining the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general election has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter).
In the clip, the Ashanti Regional Chairman candidly outlines factors behind the defeat, including internal divisions, unfulfilled promises, and delays in key development projects.
Chairman Wontumi specifically addressed the stalled commencement of certain government projects, which he believes significantly impacted the party’s reputation in its strongholds, particularly the Ashanti Region.
“You will know that when the government cuts the sword or commences a project and it delays, it means that there is a possible cause.
And that cause is the reason why the regional executives have conglomerated here to pray for the government and pray for the Ashanti Party and Ashanti Region to have favor for the
commencement of the interchange to become a reality, not just the cutting of the sword. That is why,” he explained.
The delayed completion of the interchange and other infrastructure projects, he noted,
disillusioned supporters who were counting on these developments to improve their lives.
Chairman Wontumi stressed that these delays contributed to the party’s loss of favor among voters, particularly in the region known as the NPP’s electoral backbone.
