The youth of Techiman yesterday evening 2 December 2024 attacked Otumfuo’s entourage leaving many feared injured including a child.
According to reports the bus was attacked by the youths of Techiman returning from Nkoranza to Kumasi after escorting the Asantehene to a funeral in Nkoranza.
Information gathered from reports suggests before the trip to the funeral, some youths from Techiman threatened to launch attacks should they use the route through Techiman, following an incident involving the Asanteman convoy.
In a viral video shared by EDHUB, some youths of Techiman were captured blocking the bus and throwing stones at the bus breaking the windows of the VIP bus, the violent attack on the bus left several injured including a child.
In the video, the occupants of the bus being attacked asked those close to the bus windows to report the incident. One woman on the bus was heard saying they should not come to Kumasi again after this incident.
The occupant of the bus was later captured stepping out after the driver stopped to check the damage caused by the youths.
The violent confrontation resulted in injuries, with victims receiving medical attention.
