Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Adu Twum, has set December 29 as the final deadline for the release of WASSCE results after visiting the WAEC printing facility.
The delays have been attributed to scanner breakdowns and outstanding government debt.
This announcement follows a statement from WAEC on December 9, 2024, which highlighted that delays in the release of funds from the Ministry of Education were hindering the timely completion of post-examination processes for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to the press release signed by WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, although the marking of essay and practical components was completed by November 29, 2024, the scanning of objective test cards had been stalled due to malfunctioning scanners.
The delay was further compounded by the lack of funds required for repairs and other operational activities.
The Council is awaiting the release of additional funds from the Ministry of Education, which still owes GHC118,000,000.00, to continue the scanning process and other post-examination procedures smoothly.
WAEC urged students, parents, and other stakeholders to disregard unofficial dates circulating on social media regarding the release of results.
After meeting with WAEC management, Dr. Adu Twum confirmed December 29 as the final deadline for the release of the WASSCE results.
