A netizen has reminded Ghanaians that WASSCE candidates are at home waiting for their results because the government owes WAEC GHS 118m.
The X user noted that WAEC needs the money to settle suppliers and repair their scanners.
He wrote on X, “Let it be on record that thousands of WASSCE candidates are still sitting at home waiting for their results because the government is owing WAEC GHS 118 million that they need to settle suppliers and repair their scanners”.
The X user further revealed that due to Covid-19 students are already on the back foot and questioned how the universities are going to navigate admissions and the start of their academic year.
Meanwhile, WAEC, in a statement some weeks ago, revealed they are awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GHC 118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education.
According to WAEC, the Scanning of the objective cards which were scheduled for November 1 to November 30, 2024, is yet to be completed due to the breakdown of scanners used for the process.
They further urged the public to ignore information circulating on social media about purporting to be dates for the release of results.
