Some supporters of the National Democratic Congres(NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have reportedly clashed in Coaltar, Ayensuano constituency, Eastern Region.
In a viral video on social media, the supporters of the two largest parties in Ghana were captured in a blows-to-blows confrontation.
The altercation underscores the intense political rivalry in the area, where both parties are vying for parliamentary seats.
The NPP has been actively working to reclaim the Ayensuano seat, which it lost to the NDC in 2020.
18 million registered voters are set to decide the nation’s next president and the structure of the 275-member Parliament.
In total, 12 candidates are vying for the presidency, with the front runners being the NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NDC’s John Mahama, Nana Kwame Bediako, and Alan Kyeremanten.
